EROSION, SEDIMENT CONTROL & Soil Conservation
Murray Hydroseeding, LLC offers a unique service to the
construction industry by providing comprehensive soil and
erosion control services from the initial planning stages,
through all stages of construction, to final project
completion and removal. Erosion control and soil conservation
is an integral part of any construction project. Murray works
to prevent erosion at the source, thereby eliminating
sedimentation problems and minimizing any additional cost to
the client. Murray is experienced in the use and proper
installation of all types of D.O.T. approved erosion control
products.
When used in conjunction with other erosion control
applications (hydroseeding, straw mulching, etc.) straw
wattles and coir logs are very effective at helping to slow
down surface sediment movement. In order of placement, straw
wattles should be installed prior to hydroseeding and/or straw
mulching. With rolled erosion control products like erosion
control blankets, the straw wattles should be installed after
the erosion control blankets and netting. By utilizing wood
stakes with a rope restraint method or by digging furrows to
secure the straw wattles, the wattles will remain in place a
minimum of one growing season. Straw wattles can also be used
in place of silt fences or straw bale dikes.
Erosion Control Blankets are another highly effective method
of soil and sediment control. Blankets can be composed of
straw, straw/coconut and coir fiber. The different types of
blankets are meant to be used in different slope or soil
conditions, depending on how long they're intended to remain
intact and in place. They are a better alternative when
hydroseeding or hydromulching and/or straw mulching is not
sufficient enough to control erosion and sediment control on a
critical slope or site. For perfect application, the slope
must be graded uniformly smooth so water cannot run beneath
the blanket, resulting in erosion. No rills, gullies,
protruding rocks or roots can be tolerated.
Common erosion and sediment control measures installed and
maintained by Murray Hydroseeding include the following:
